Snetterton a non-event!!
After the spectacular engine failure at the previous Round, we had high hopes of getting the season back on track at Snetterton.
Qualifying & Race 1A fresh engine was supplied and fitted by SPC Motorsport and we took to the track hoping to set the record straight. Our hopes, however, were soon dashed! The car soon overheated in the qualification session, which prevented us from being able to post a fast lap time. Despite much tinkering by the mechanics, the car failed to perform again in race 1 with overheating problems developing early on.
Race 2
With hopes raised that the problem had been cured we lined up for race 2 on the Sunday morning. However, by the end of the first lap, the car was overheating again, so it proved to be a complete non-event!
Reflection
After what can only be described as a truly disastrous start to the season, 944 Racer & SPC Motorsport have now parted company. SPC felt they were no longer able to provide us with race support and with 2 of their engines failing to last a single meeting, we weren't happy with the service they were providing us with either.
So lesson learned, motorsport can be harsh off the track as well as on it. We're just pleased to draw this unhappy chapter to a close.
… and just in case you thought this would be the end of our season, think again! There are moves afoot and we will be at Silverstone for the next round. We'll keep you posted!
